What are we supporting?

Donations to the Bryant Neighborhood Center Auction provide support to the Legacy Outreach Programs:

  • The Bobcat Learning Center provides tutoring and enrichment to middle school students at Jason Lee and Bryant, offered in partnership with Peace Community Center and Tacoma Public Schools.

  • TAP, the Trinity Afterschool Program, provides one-on-one literacy tutoring to early elementary students at Bryant Montessori

  • Tony’s Kitchen offers soup and conversation to anyone in the neighborhood who would like to stop by.

  • Pat’s Closet provides clothing and household items to our neighbors, donated by members of the broader Tacoma Community. Pat’s Closet was most impacted by construction, and has spent this time as “Pat’s Drawer,” offering socks and coats, while our space is unavailable.

  • The Bryant Neighborhood Center Construction is nearly complete! Soon, we’ll see the Center operating as a space to curate responsive resources to meet community needs, while following health and safety guidelines and restrictions mandated by this pandemic.

Are the Outreach Programs still operating?

Yes! Amidst this crisis, our programs have adapted to continue to serve our students:

  • Tony’s Kitchen has served over 1,000 meals since the stay at home order was issued in early March.

  • The Bobcat Learning Center is offering enrichments via video, and virtual homework help to our students.

  • The Trinity Afterschool Program has been pen-palling with our students, and recently kicked off virtual literacy tutoring.

  • Throughout this crisis, our staff have provided groceries, hygiene kits, care packages, school supplies, even downloaded books onto student kindles, serving our neighbors the very best we can from six feet away.
