The Session is the leadership body of our local congregation, which oversees and undergirds all the mission and ministry that happens within the church. “Session” is an old Scottish Presbyterian term. At Trinity, the Session is made up of nine elders and the Pastor (sometimes also called the “teaching elder”). The Pastor serves as the Moderator of the Session. Elders are selected by the congregation at the Annual Meeting to be ordained and to serve for a three-year term.
The Trinity Session meets once a month (the third Tuesday of the month) to consider how it is that God is calling us as a congregation in the here and now—and that prayer and conversation has to focus on both the “big picture” and the “nitty gritty.” We monitor our church finances (with the important help of the Finance Team!). We pray for people. We make sure things are working well. We hope to empower and equip the congregation. We talk about our future.
