This national workshop developed by Quakers helps participants to learn and experience some of the long, 500 years of genocide, colonization, and forced assimilation of Native peoples, knowing that shared understanding helps us to work together toward right relationships between Native and non-Native people. The workshop will be led by Rev. Irvin Porter, Pima, T’hono O’odham, and Nez Perce, Pastor of Church of the Indian Fellowship (Puyllaup) & Associate for Native American Intercultural Congregational Support, the Presbyterian Church (USA).
This is part of a series of workshops sponsored by the Conversations Around Race partnership (Trinity, Peace Lutheran, Church of the Indian Fellowship & the Tacoma Friends) this Winter/Spring called “Confronting Racism: Tacoma Stories of Lament & Hope.” The remaining workshops will be virtual on the 3rd Thursday evenings of the month, from 6:30-8pm on the Zoom platform (March 16, April 20, May 18)
