Conversations Around Race: Native American Justice Series
January 25, February 22, March 22 | 6:30–8:30 p.m. | Zoom

Join us for the first of a series of four monthly Native American Justice workshops led by Rev. Irvin Porter, as a part of the Conversations Around Race partnership that Trinity has been a part of for many years. We're grateful to be partnering with Associated Ministries on this as well, to involve the wider faith community in Pierce County.

This first workshop on January 25 is on "The Doctrine of Discovery & Land Acknowledgement." We will examine the church documents in Christian Europe in the mid-1400s that justified the domination and oppression by its monarchies as they invaded the Western hemisphere and how this affects Native Americans today. The workshop will also examine our use of Land Acknowledgments, acknowledging the legacies of brokenness can orient us towards the messy, sacred work of repair.

Tuesday, February 22, 6:30–8:30 p.m.: "Indian Schools"
Tuesday, March 22, 6:30–8:30 p.m.: "Decolonizing the Myth of Thanksgiving"
To be scheduled later, "'Dawnland' Documentary and Panel Discussion"
