CONVERSATION AROUND RACE presents "An Afternoon of Theatre and Conversation" on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at 2:00pm at The Dukesbay Theater, 508 Sixth Ave. #10 in Tacoma, 98402 (just upstairs from The Grand Cinema and Tacoma City Ballet).
Come join us for a live theatre presentation of Velina Hasu Houston's "Tea"
"Tea" tells the story of five Japanese women who came to the United States after WWII as "war brides," settling with their American husbands in an Army base in Junction City, Kansas. Following the death of one of the women, the other four gather for tea and remembrance. As each woman's story unfolds, we learn what life in small-town America gave them, and what it took away. "Tea" examines a chapter in American history that has been nearly forgotten.
A post-play discussion will follow. Refreshments will also be served.
This special performance of "Tea" is Pay-What-You-Can. (Regular admission for this show is $10-12.) Reservations are requested.
