Adult Spiritual Formation at Trinity
A deep dive into your life in the company of friends in light of the stunning story of Jesus
At Trinity, we are interested in forming deep and transformative relationships with God and with others. The Journey is a primary way we create space for that at Trinity.
What is The Journey?
The Journey is a weekly peer-learning spiritual formation cohort of 4-9 other Trinity people, over the course of 21 weeks. It is an opportunity to discover more deeply the God who loves us, dig deeper into our own life stories, all with the intention of living more fully into the particularities of God’s grace and God’s call in your life. This cohort is designed to create space for good questions and meaningful conversation about some of the most important things in our lives, in the company of others. This is our third year of Journey groups - over 40 people at Trinity have gone through the Journey in the last two years.
Who is The Journey for?
The Journey is for those who are hungry for something more in life, who are wanting to find companions in this journey of faith, and who are open to growth and challenge in your Christian life. Or maybe you are in a rebuilding moment in your faith journey, and you want to discover afresh and anew what it looks like to follow Jesus in this next season of your life. Wherever you are at in the Journey, we encourage you to consider being a part.
What do you do in this Spiritual Formation cohort?
The basic elements are:
A 90 minute weekly gathering with the facilitator and 4-9 others.
Time on your own each week to read and reflect on the Journey material, and Scripture.
A discovery process into your own life story, and your gifts/calling/vocation.
Develop a one-on-one spiritual friendship with someone who can support and encourage you during the process.
Some great books to read: The Gift of Being Yourself (David Benner), Liturgy of the Ordinary (Tish Harrison Warren), among others.
Isn’t it true that all the experiences that have been transformative in our lives require something of us? Participating in The Journey will require an investment of time, energy, and attention - and you can trust that it will be well worth your time and effort.
When is it?
The Journey is built around three 7-week stages, a total of 21 weeks. The cohort will begin in January 2026. Most groups have chosen to take a break in the summer, and to complete the 3rd stage (7 weeks) in the Fall. The weekly gathering times will be determined by the group, and a few ‘off weeks’ are built in.
How do I signup? Is there a cost?
Signups will open in November. And, yes, there is a moderate cost of $295 - which is simply the cost of the materials.
“Are you tired? Worn out?
Burned out on religion? Come to me.
Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me
and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. ”
