Matthew Robbins-Ghormley

Pastor

I love Trinity. What a true joy to serve as pastor here. I love the authentic faith that is being lived out here - no pretenses. I love that Trinity lives into the whole gospel - not only being embraced by the love of God in a personal way, but seeing how that love compels us to love our neighbor and our neighborhood. I love that we're bursting at the seams with kids! I love how genuinely newcomers are welcomed. Now this isn't to say that we're perfect - far from it - but I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.

Before coming to Trinity in 2010, I served in urban congregations in Saint Paul, Seattle, and Vancouver, BC. I graduated with a B.A. in Christian Education from Taylor University (Indiana) and did my graduate theological education at Regent College (Vancouver, BC). I love being married to Amber, and together we have lots of fun with our two kids.

Rod Nash

Director of Outreach

I have had the privilege of attending Trinity since 2000, and serving as Trinity’s Director of Outreach since August, 2007. I am privileged to give leadership to Trinity’s Outreach efforts towards being a Transformational Presence in the Bryant Neighborhood within the Hilltop of Tacoma. As a longtime Hilltop resident (along with my wife and three kids) and huge fan of the city of Tacoma, I find great pleasure in getting to serve here within this community. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1996, and have worked with Tacoma’s urban population of youth and families ever since. During non-work hours, you will find me playing with my family, working on homework for my Masters of Divinity degree, or attempting to catch a few minutes of a Seattle-based sporting event.

Julia Corbett

Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry

I joined Trinity in 2011 and fell in love with it!  This is the place where you will find some of the most passionate, devoted, loving, and fun people in Tacoma! As I oversee ministry to youth and children every week, I see a community that showers kids with love and ignites their hearts to follow Christ.

I have been working with kids since I was 14 and have a Bachelors Degree in Youth and Family Ministry.  Most of my free time I spend with my husband Jason and our two children, being outdoors, reading, or chatting with my friends in Tacoma and all over the world.

Christian Rude

Youth Ministry Intern

I am the youth ministry intern here at Trinity. I was born and raised in that wonderful town, Redding, California. I am a goofy senior chemistry student at PLU, with currently unclear life goals. In all the things I do not know, like my future, I am still certain of these things: that I am loved deeply by Jesus and that I love people. It is truly exciting to get to be a part of and learn from your vibrant community on the HIlltop while living out my faith with your youth.

Cynthia Stelle

Finance Coordinator

My family and I moved to Washington in 2012 from Alabama, which is why you will hear my Southern drawl when you call the church office.  My position at Trinity is varied and NEVER dull.  From overseeing communications (bulletin/e-News/web page), to care for the physical building, to working with those with needs who come to the Front Door at Trinity House, I have found Trinity to be a place of compassion and joy that is eager to welcome the stranger.   While you won't see me on Sundays (because I'm married to a pastor and he expects me to be at "his" church), I'm in the office Tuesdays - Fridays, so drop by if you are in the neighborhood and say, "Hi, y'all!"

Daniel Akamine

AmeriCorps Staff - Bobcat Learning Center

I grew up in Hawai'i and moved to Tacoma to attend the University of Puget Sound, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I am excited to be working with the staff at Trinity because their eagerness and love for working with the community and youth inspires me to give back. Laura Johnson

AmeriCorps Staff - Bobcat Learning Center

This year, I have the privilege of working as an AmeriCorps member with the Trinity Staff at the Learning Center. I was born in Kalispell, Montana, but moved to the wonderful Pacific Northwest four years ago to attend Pacific Lutheran University, where I recently graduated with BA in English Literature, and minors in Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and Religion. I am excited to be tutoring and mentoring students this year while giving back to the Tacoma Community. In my free time, I can be found scouring book stores for my next read, knitting, or outside enjoying the wonderful rainy weather.

Hayley Uliana

AmeriCorps Staff - Trinity Afterschool Program

As an AmeriCorps member, I will be working primarily with Trinity's TAP program. Some fun facts about me are: I am originally from Hawaii, I spent several childhood days at the beach stuffing my face with handfuls of sand, and I recently graduated from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California with a BA in Philosophy and a minor in English. After spending four years in California attending college, I packed my bags and headed to the great Pacific Northwest. I am excited to call Tacoma my new home and fall in love with the city and its people. I have found myself in the midst of wonderful people here among the Trinity staff. They are passionate about wholeheartedly loving others and serving their surrounding community. I am excited to be a part of all that Trinity is doing within the community.
