Matthew Robbins-Ghormley

Pastor

I love Trinity. What a true joy to serve as pastor here. I love the authentic faith that is being lived out here - no pretenses. I love that Trinity lives into the whole gospel - not only being embraced by the love of God in a personal way, but seeing how that love compels us to love our neighbor and our neighborhood. I love that we're bursting at the seams with kids! I love how genuinely newcomers are welcomed. Now this isn't to say that we're perfect - far from it - but I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.

Before coming to Trinity in 2010, I served in urban congregations in Saint Paul, Seattle, and Vancouver, BC. I graduated with a B.A. in Christian Education from Taylor University (Indiana) and did my graduate theological education at Regent College (Vancouver, BC). I love being married to Amber, and together we have lots of fun with our two kids.

Rod Nash

Associate Pastor for Community Engagement

I have had the privilege of attending Trinity since 2000, and serving on staff here since 2007. I provide leadership for Trinity Outreach Programs and the Trinity congregation's deep commitment to our neighbors (a philosophy we call Transformational Presence) here in the Bryant Neighborhood. As a longtime Hilltop resident (along with my wife and three kids) I am a huge fan of the incredible city of Tacoma. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University (BA) in 1996, the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary (MDiv) in 2016, and was Ordained as a Pastor and Installed into my current role in December 2017. During non-work hours, you will find me hanging out with friends or family, playing music, or attempting to catch a few minutes of a Seattle-based sporting event.

Julia Corbett

Director of Children, Youth & Family Ministry

I joined Trinity in 2011 and fell in love with it!  This is the place where you will find some of the most passionate, devoted, loving, and fun people in Tacoma! As I oversee ministry to youth and children every week, I see a community that showers kids with love and ignites their hearts to follow Christ.

I have been working with kids since I was 14 and have a Bachelors Degree in Youth and Family Ministry.  Most of my free time I spend with my husband Jason and our two children, being outdoors, reading, or chatting with my friends in Tacoma and all over the world.

Kyle Bradshaw

Youth Ministry Coordinator

I was excited to join Trinity as the Youth Ministry Coordinator in 2018. I grew up in Olympia, but left the beautiful green forests of Washington to go to school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I loved my time at Calvin College and graduated in 2017 with degrees in Geography and Ministry Leadership. Building relationships with students and helping them grow closer to Jesus and understanding themselves is what excites me about Youth Ministry. I am thrilled to be part of the work Trinity is doing, living out the Gospel in the heart of Tacoma. In my free time you'll find me hiking a trail, kayaking in the Sound, cooking a creative meal, listening or making music, or reading a book in a city park.

Melissa Yager

Children’s Ministry Assistant

I have lived in Tacoma the last 5 years after graduating from Evergreen State College in Olympia. I live and work at the Guadalupe House as part of the Catholic Worker neighborhood where I get to live out the gospel with my neighbors while we support adults transitioning out of homelessness. I also spent a year in South Korea doing political support work with a local NGO. In my free time you can find me either working in the garden or rock climbing. I am so excited to be able to work with the children's ministry here at Trinity.

Cynthia Stelle

Director of Administration & Finance

My family and I moved to Washington in 2012 from Alabama, which is why you will hear my Southern drawl when you call the church office.  My position at Trinity is varied and NEVER dull.  From administering the personnel needs of our staff, to the care for the physical building, plus working with financial planning and capital campaign needs, I have found Trinity to be a place of compassion and joy that is eager to welcome the stranger.   While you won't see me on Sundays (because I'm married to a pastor and he expects me to be at "his" church), I'm in the office Monday - Thursday, so drop by if you are in the neighborhood and say, "Hey, y'all!"

Daniel Akamine

Nichole Fausset

Originally I am from Waipahu, Oahu but I moved to Tacoma before starting middle school and have been here ever since. I graduated from Washington High School in 2012 and Pacific Lutheran University in 2016, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I completed a year of service through Americorps and chose to work at Trinity afterwards because they have such a positive presence in the Hilltop community. I enjoy giving back to others and being a part of this close knit neighborhood.

Kelly Humphreys

TAP Assistant

I am the TAP Assistant here at Trinity, and I love it! My husband, Doug, and I are relatively new to Tacoma (and to Trinity), having moved here from Redmond  a year or so ago. We moved to Washington from near San Diego in 2009, and since I grew up in Oregon, it’s like coming home. We love this city and are excited to be involved in the neighborhood. Doug is the Seattle/Tacoma area director of ReWire, a nonprofit whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for mission momentum in the local church. I’m glad to be working with the TAP program – I love teaching little kids to read! I have a degree in English from UC Irvine, and love literature, story. I have a passion for prayer and for seeing (and being a part of) God’s story played out in our lives. For my down time I love to read, write, hang out with family, walk the dog, play (beginning) guitar and sing, draw, listen to podcasts – a myriad of things. I also enjoy working part-time at the Starbucks across from Trinity – so come by and visit me in the morning sometime!
