Harlan
Shoop, Senior Pastor, was born in Kansas, raised
in Colorado, moved to the Northwest in the 70's and has called Tacoma

pastor in Yakima. He came to Tacoma after attending seminary
in Scotland at the University of Aberdeen. His first call in
Tacoma was to University Place Presbyterian Church and now has been
at Trinity for the past five years. Harlan and his wife, Sue,
have 4 children that are all grown and on their own. They also

I
was a church kid. My parents took my sister, brother and me to church
routinely. They were involved and I was often bored. I enjoyed it
when something would go wrong or sideways to provide comic relief
or punishment if I was the one who cause it to happen. God was very
much a mysterious accountant that kept track of rights and wrongs.
If you did right you got to heaven and if you did wrong, well! I missed
the message of grace. At some point I caught the message or it caught
me. I am not sure which.
I
believe that the Spirit of God is at work in many places speaking
the word of grace. It is not just spoken in the church. At the same
time I believe that the gathering of God's people is a place where
God does show up in amazing ways and speaks to us of Grace made known
through Christ Jesus.
If
you are looking for a church that is active in mission, energetic
in worship, loving in reaching out to you, and speaks the words of
Grace, then you might want to come and check us out. We are not perfect
by any stretch of the imagination, but we are dedicated to living
the Gospel in the Heart of Tacoma and living in God's grace.
Grace
and Peace,
Harlan

Wendy
Milloy, Executive Administrator, a
"P.K." (Pastor's Kid,) was born while her Dad was at Princeton
Seminary. She's been Presbyterian for a long time. Wendy
grew up in Seattle and then Cut Bank, Montana as the middle of five
siblings. After graduating from Whitworth College her careers
were Mom, paralegal, Field Insurance Claims Representative, Hardware
Store owner/bookkeeper, and Consignment Store owner. Her kids
and grand kids drew her to Tacoma from Spokane three years ago where
she found her way back to Trinity, the church her great-grandfather
founded. Many hard times of brokenness and grace in Wendy's
life have prepared her for her ministry in Trinity's office.
Aside from running the church office, bookkeeping, publications, and
overseeing the church facility, opportunities are always there for
her to reach out, representing the hands of Jesus to hurting people
in our community. They know that at the front door of Trinity
House they will encounter a friendly face.

James
Vaughn, Minister of Music and Music Director,
was born and raised in Seatlle, and began attednging church with his
mother at an early age. The second oldest of six children, he found
attending church enjoyable and became even more enthused as he discovered
a love for the vibrant musics that came with each service. In
Jr. High band his natural talent was easily recongnizable as he sat
first chair saxophone in every group from the Marching Band to Jazz
Ensemble. But it was the piano that really endeared him to the
art of making beautiful music.
After serving
in the Navy, James returned to the church of his early childhood,
New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. of Tacoma, where he soon became Minister
of Music.
As Music
Director at Trinity, James' aim is to help people open up to God in
worship. He hopes to provide an atmosphere where they can feel
free to talk to God about anything and in return hear clearly what
the Lord may be saying back to them. "...I hope to further Trinity's
vision by empowering the congregation through our music, worship and
all of the arts."

Noah Baskett, AmeriCorps Outreach Intern
Hi, my name is Noah Baskett. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, one of the most beautiful (and often misunderstood) cities of the West and moved up to Tacoma, Washington about four years ago to attend the University of Puget Sound. Throughout the past four years in Tacoma, I was drawn to Trinity in its commitment to one another and its surrounding community. Because of the formative experiences of these years, including my involvement as a tutor with the Trinity Afterschool Program and some travels to South America, I came to value several people in my life who were willing to live their lives in the service of others. Now with my new highly marketable degree in History, I'm looking forward to my Americorps internship in building relationships with Jason Lee Middle School students and exploring my own interest in education.

I was born and raised in Hawthorne, California, just outside of Los Angeles. I am the youngest of four boys and most of my early years were in a large Baptist church in Manhattan Beach. I went on to attend the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where I recently graduated with a B.A. in Economics. During my time at UCSD, I was involved in Campus Crusade for Christ and one of its smaller offshoots, Muirons for Christ. During my college years, I was able to develop my passion for working with young people in a variety of capacities. I worked as a camp counselor during the summers, served the high school students at my church as a counselor, and spent the last two years working as a Residential Advisor to freshmen in the dorms at UCSD. My main hobbies revolve around sports, especially baseball.
